Short answer

Building product manufacturers get specified by making their systems easy to find, compare and write into a specification: performance data in US units on the website, CAD and BIM files, ready-made guide specifications, clear answers to the questions architects search, and rep relationships. The digital part decides whether a system is considered at all.

A window or façade system rarely loses on price. It loses because it was never in the specification. By the time a contractor prices the job, the architect has already decided which systems qualify.
